The Bachchans were furious at a report published in the “Mumbai Mirror” (a publication of Times Group) concerning reports on the progeny matters and some ailments of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The family demanded an immediate apology from the publishers and even threatened to sue them for damages. The family also boycotted the “Filmfare awards” function presented annually by the same group.

Since, the current episode is related to the issue of progeny of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, it will be pertinent to analyze her horoscope from the angle of progeny which is at the root of the current controversy. The discussion on the astrological prospects follows.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was born on 1st November 1973 when Virgo Lagna (Ascendant) was rising. Sun sign as per the Vedic system is Libra. As per the western system it is Scorpio. Moon sign is Sagittarius. The birth “Nakshatra” is “Purva Ashadha 2nd pada”.

The placements of planets in the horoscope are as follows:-

Ascendant (Lagna) is Virgo. There is no planet in the lagna.

Second house has debilitated Sun.

Third house has retrograde Mercury.

Fourth house has Venus, Moon and Rahu.

Fifth house has debilitated Jupiter.

Eighth house has retrograde Mars.

Tenth house has retrograde Saturn and Ketu.

The relevant house for progeny is the 5th house. The planets placed in the 5th house and planets influencing the 5th house and the 5th lord are important considerations. The 9th house and its lord are also important for consideration of progeny prospects.

In the horoscope of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the 5th lord Saturn happens to be retrograde and is afflicted by being placed in the “Rahu / Ketu” axis. Debilitated Jupiter is placed in the 5th house. The 9th lord Venus is also afflicted by being placed in the “Rahu / Ketu” axis. Here, it is worth special mention that 3 planets i.e. Mercury, Saturn and Mars are retrograde.

“Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra” (a treatise on Vedic astrology) talks about delay in child birth because of curses of spiritual persons emanating from deeds of past lives. Refer to Verses 71 to 78 (Chapter 85). The verses indicate that childbirth can be delayed if such curses of past lives continued unattended. The set of combinations that speak of such curse in her horoscope are “Rahu” placed in the sign of Jupiter (Sagittarius in her case), affliction of the 5th lord, affliction of the 9th lord and the debilitated Jupiter placed in the 5th house. Hence, afflictions in the horoscope caused by the curse are the main cause of delay in childbirth. The only course available for her is to seek the grace of God and “Sadguru” (Ascendant Masters) for resolving the karmic issues of past lives.

The silver lining in the horoscope is the placement of own sign Mars in the 5th house from Moon. However, Mars also happens to be retrograde and is receiving the aspect of the debilitated Sun. Mars also needs to be strengthened. Currently, she is running the operational “dasa” of “Rahu / Jupiter” which started on her from August 2009 and will continue till January 2012. Jupiter is debilitated in her horoscope but it is gaining strength in the “Navamsha”. In “Navamsha” Jupiter is placed in Aries sign. The lord of Aries is Mars. If she is able to take remedial measures for both Mars and Jupiter, she will be able to conceive and will be able to have a healthy child. She is advised to worship “Samarth Sadguru Shri Sai Nath of Shirdi” for strengthening Jupiter and “Lord Hanuman” for strengthening Mars.
